Safety Switches
A safety switch monitors the status of safety devices such as doors, fences, and hatches. When a safety door is opened, the switch sends a signal to the control unit to stop dangerous machine movements (or the entire machine). It is crucial to prevent manipulation (bypassing) of the safety system. The production process can only be resumed once the safety device is closed again.
Safety Interlocks
Safety interlocks have an additional (mechanical) lock to prevent manipulation. These electromagnetic interlocks ensure that doors, hatches, and fences can only be opened once dangerous processes have completely stopped. They contribute to consistent productivity by minimising interruptions and restart processes and are essential for LOTO procedures (Lock Out - Tag Out) or LOTOTO procedures (Lock Out - Tag Out - Try Out).
